An absolute romp for Jim Broadbent and Helen Mirren. Rarely can they have enjoyed themselves more. While the Establishment and the Law make fools of themselves assuming that the National Gallery?s Goya masterpiece of the Duke of Wellington has been stolen by master criminals, the actual thief, Kempton Bunton (Broadbent), a retired bus driver, is hoping to extract a healthy ransom for pensioners and war widows, to the exasperation of his wife (Mirren). Based on real events from 1961, The Duke is the final feature film directed by Roger Michell (Enduring Love) and is pulled off with a feather-light touch worthy of the best from the Ealing franchise.
