Pianist William Bracken was born into a musical family and began playing the piano at the age of four. In 2013 he received a scholarship to study with Jonathan Middleton at the Junior Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. He has won several international awards and has extensive recital and concerto experience in venues up and down the country. In 2017 he was awarded a scholarship to study with Ronan O?Hora and Martin Roscoe at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama (GSMD) in London where he is in the final year of his post-graduate studies.
In July 2017, William performed Rachmaninov?s mighty third concerto at Liverpool?s Philharmonic Hall to great acclaim. In 2020 he was the winner of the GSMD?s Glass Seller?s Beethoven Prize. Most recently he was a finalist in the GSMD's Gold Medal competition which earned him a performance of Beethoven's 4th concerto at the Barbican in May. William plays regularly in the Bracken Trio with his father Ian Bracken, 3rd Cello in the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. He is also a keen jazz performer, composer and arranger.
