Tereza Catarov is a musician based in London (UK), gifted with the talent of composition and the art of singing to the same degree. She grew up in a multicultural environment, therefore she was exposed to different music genres from a very early age. Now, her music and sound are influenced by jazz, traditional eastern European music and classical music.
Tereza Catarov has studied at Prince Claus Conservatory, in Groningen (the Netherlands), and has achieved the Master degree with a distinction at Guildhall School of Music and Drama, in London(UK).
She has studied and worked with musicians such as David Binney, Barak Schmool, Clare Wheeler, JD Walter, Matt Wilson, Gene Jackson, and Alex Simu. She was part of different projects performed in Europe and in the United Kingdom.
Having a wide dynamic range of sounds and a varied colour palette, Tereza?s compositions are based on jazz music stylistics with alternative world music hints and an indie soul flavour. This project depicts some stories that Tereza has experienced on her journey as a foreigner artist in different countries as well as songs which have emerged from her cultural heritage. All of these are expressed through intricate melodies, odd meter time signatures and lyrics which have a major role in her creative process. Even if some of the songs are not in English, the audience will surely feel the intensity of the feelings from which the music and the words were generated.
The band will present two sets of freshly cooked original creations and Romanian and Bulgarian traditional tunes rearranged by Tereza. No jam.
