Join us at Berwick Town Hall for a fascinating talk about the unique agricultural hiring practice of Northumberland and the Scottish Borders, given as part of the Union Chain Bridge Project.
Our guest speaker, Dinah Iredale, is an expert on the history of the bondagers and hinds, having written both a book and a film summarising her extensive local research.
This is part of a series of talks inspired by the heritage and setting of the Union Chain Bridge. The bridge is the world's oldest suspension bridge still used by vehicles, although it is currently closed for conservation. It crosses the River Tweed, linking Scottish Borders and Northumberland, so exploring an unique way of life that typifies our region, recognising no formal borders, is an apt topic.
Join us on 20th October at 7pm, at Berwick Town Hall for the free talk.
