Jodie Nicholson is an indie-folk musician based in Hurworth-on-Tees in the North East.
An awardee of PRS Foundation?s ?Women Make Music?, Help Musicians? ?Do it Differently? and Sentric?s Academy Fund, her career excelled throughout the pandemic with releases produced remotely by Tim Bran (London Grammar, Aurora, Birdy).
Nicholson?s signature rich harmonies, explorative textures and pensive lyrics have earned her a deserved place on BBC Radio 6 Music playlist, Best of BBC Introducing 2020 on Radio 1 and Amazing Radio?s A-List, alongside airplay across BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio Ulster and BBC Introducing.
Following the return of live shows, Nicholson has graced Wilderness main stage, All Points East, The Alt Escape, Y Not, Liverpool Sound City, Live at Leeds, Long Division and Twisterella, and supported Emeli Sandé, Tom Rosenthal, Bernard Butler, The Howl & The Hum, Nathan Ball, The Futureheads and Benedict Cork at sold-out shows.
In 2021, Sage Gateshead x Northern Music Trust commissioned Jodie to form a band and headline Sage 2 for their debut show. Since then, the four-piece became the first performers at Sunderland?s new venue, The Fire Station, played Nicholson?s first UK headline tour in 2022, as part of Independent Venue Week, and have festival slots this year at Generator Live, Y Not and Twisterella.
