Our season opens with one of the masterpieces of the Western choral tradition; Brahms? ?Ein deutsches Requiem?. This is performed alongside music by Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel and Clara Schumann. Hensel is often thought of as a bridge between Felix Mendelssohn (her brother) and Johannes Brahms, whereas Clara was a great friend of Brahms for much of his life. Streatham Choral performs this wonderful music with four hands at one piano in Brahms? own arrangement of the Requiem.
