Here we are... Xmas 2022! A full year since Comedy at the Calder began and we have a cracker line-up to get your festive season started...
Phil Ellis
?Mad and severely likeable, possessed with manic energy? - Metro
Edinburgh Award winner from Roast Battle, The Russell Howard Hour, The Tez Show and Drunk History. Phil won the Fosters Edinburgh Comedy Award?s panel prize with his undisputed anarchic sleeper hit of a show Funz and Gamez. After meeting incredible critical acclaim, Funz and Gamez was broadcast as part of Fresh from the Fest, as well as part of BBC Comedy Feeds on BBC Three. The show went on to have an 18-show run at the Soho theatre as well as a further run at the Udderbelly on Southbank.
Phil has written and starred in three series of his radio sitcom Phil Ellis is Trying on BBC Radio 4, with cast including Lolly Adefope, Johnny Vegas, Sean Lock and Lee Mack. The second series was nominated for Best Scripted Comedy in the BBC Audio Drama Awards 2020.
Smug Roberts

Anecdotal artisan as seen on Phoenix Nights, That Peter Kay Thing, Mrs Brown's Boys, Coronation Street, Cold Feet and the Ken Loach film Looking For Eric. Described by Metro as 'an act everyone deserves to see at least once', he?s a headline performer all over the U.K and is regarded as something of a cult hero in his native Manchester, a man with genuinely funny bones, able to provoke peals of laughter from a quirky colloquialism or a nonplussed expression.

'He takes his ideas on a walk through the surreal with his amenable personality. He's funny' - Comedy Review
Liam Tulley
Comedy Store King Gong winner. A mordant original thinker, droll beyond his years and very funny. ?His angry rants against idiocy got the crowd on his side immediately? - Scunthorpe Independent.
