The Folk Ball

Dear friends,

We're having a Ball.

We've LOVED the last two balls, so we're creating another Winter Solstice Ball.

We are inspired by the French and Continental Balfolk dance scene and want to bring the joy of these beautiful traditional dances to our neck of the woods. Anyone who's experienced these dances will know of the warmth, exhilaration and connection created when we come together like this.

Join us for a traditional folk ball where we will gather as a community to dance, feast and have a great party.

6pm Arrive for a prompt start

6.30 - 7.30pm Dance Workshop: Our dance teacher Sarah will cover the following dances: waltz, schottiche, a circadian circle, bourée and mazurka.

7.30 - 8.30pm The Feast - see menu below

8.45 - late The Ball

This is a full evening event starting with a 1 hour workshop that lays the groundwork for the night's ball; followed by a communal feast after which we dress up and dance all night to live music.

The Band is composed of some of the best traditional music players in the area who will bring alive the French and Continental ?Bal Folk? Scene.

The Dancing will be a mixture of partner dances and circle dances. You can come as a couple or alone, everyone will get the chance to dance with everyone.

The Workshop will give us the tools to soar in the night. We will explore the embrace as a mindful connection with our partner. Listening skills and playfulness will give us the confidence to really have fun with these traditional dances.

The Dress Code for the evening: flowing robes, blouses, colourful shirts and waistcoats - put on your best!

More sensual than Ceilidh, more varied than 'Breton Dance', the Balfolk has lots of partner dances and some circle dancing.

We're bringing in our caterer Rafi who will serve a light, dance-friendly meal of vegan curry, dhal, rice and fresh toppings.

Hot spiced cider and mulled wine will be available to buy, also BYO drinks.
