Description

Fran & Flora is a critically acclaimed and multi-award nominated experimental folk duo based in the UK comprised of Francesca Ter-Berg (cello/vocals) and Flora Curzon (violin/vocals). The duo's unique sound stems from a combination of musical influences including Klezmer (Eastern European Jewish music), Transylvanian and Romanian music, which they have studied extensively together over the last 10 years, combined with their shared love for improvisation and an ambient / electronic music.

Their debut album Unfurl was the culmination of three years studio work with producer Sam Beste (The Vernon Spring / Hejira): ?Border-defying? - Mojo; ?An album of beguiling beauty? - The Wire; ?Brave and classy? - Robin Denselow, The Guardian. Since its release in 2019 the duo has toured the UK and Europe playing at venues including Kings Place and Cafe Oto (London), The Cube (Bristol), Cobalt Studios (Newcastle), EFG London Jazz Festival, Shtetl Neukolln (Berlin), and Ancienne Belgique (Brussels), with the support of the Arts Council England, and have appeared live on BBC radio 4 Woman?s Hour, Cerys Matthews? 6Music show, Worldwide FM, WDR, and BBC radio 3 In Tune.

After a pandemic-induced hiatus the duo have reconvened to play shows and make their second album, which, they are very excited to announce is now in it's final stages.
