Description

Two great north east singer songwriters come to Dunelm Club in the heart of Durham for a matinee performance. Don't miss it!

Steve Pledger has been described as "a master of his craft" by folking.com and his recordings as "object lessons in the art of contemporary songwriting" by fRoots Magazine. FATEA Magazine wrote that seeing him perform live is "a privilege to witness.".

Cast in the mold of the classic troubadour, there are inevitably shades of those who ultimately have defined the role, and yet his blend of blistering social commentary; stark honesty, and fearless tenderness have marked Steve out as someone unafraid to create his own place in the singer/songwriter landscape.

In November 2022, he released his 4th studio album, What Tomorrow Knows, following on from 14 Good Intentions (2012), Striking Matches in the Wind (2015), Somewhere Between (2016), and his live mini-album Alone in the Dark (2019). What Tomorrow Knows has been enthusiastically received by many and described as "a future classic" by Roots & Fusion, and by Folk & Tumble as "The protest album the world needs. 5/5".

Bridie Jackson started writing songs at the age of 3 and never stopped. She enjoys arranging folk versions of 80?s pop classics just as much as singing accapella protest songs and her favourite songwriter is Loudon Wainwright, but she more frequently gets compared to Feist. Alongside her work as a performer, Bridie is a composer, songwriter and sound artist, well known for her innovative use of voice and vocal harmonies and has composed and produced bespoke musical scores for Theatre, Dance, Opera and Film.

Best known as lead singer and songwriter of the band, Bridie Jackson and The Arbour, who received national recognition after winning the 2013 Glastonbury Emerging Talent Contest, Bridie now regularly performs as a solo artist.

'Self-deprecating and playful, Jackson moves effortlessly from the personal to the political. Her voice is pure, powerful and hauntingly beautiful'
Narc Magazine

"The remarkable voice of Bridie Jackson is beautiful yet haunting..." - The Guardian, Emily Brinnand
