BIOG: Horse McDonald has been described as ?an artist who
wouldn't have been out of place on the Stax on Motown labels
in their heyday?. She has an amazing pedigree and is utterly
unique.
Horse originally signed publishing with EMI in 1984 ( via SBK
and CBS) The band?s appearance on legendary TV music show , The tube, piqued the
viewers' interest, who proceeded to deluge show switchboard with calls. In 1987 after a major showcase at Third Eye Centre in Glasgow (now CCA) they signed to Capitol. The first album ?The Same Sky? was released in 1990. After signing a second major deal ?God's Home Movie? was released on MCA 1993
Over the years, Horse has toured extensively in her own right, but she has also performed alongside artists as diverse is Tina Turner, (across UK and Europe. ) Robbie Williams, Burt Bacharach, Bryan Ferry, B.B King, Aztec Camera, Nancy Griffith, Ian McKellen, Pet Shop Boys and Culture Club. Some of the most diverse venues too, Tower Bridge and The Albert Hall in London. Beneath the Siegesaule in Berlin.
She's a bravely independent artist and sees no boundaries. Although tagged in a pop/rock category in her earlier years, she tends to sport her own unique genre. In 1995 she embarked on a solo career. This happened after creating ?Both Sides?, an ambitious project in which she produced and recorded a live show at the legendary Barrowlands venue in Glasgow with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra. This was the first time an orchestra had played there. ?Both Sides, became the first album on her own label, Randan. She has since gone on to play and record with The SCO several times and other notable orchestras including the SSO and BT Scottish ensemble. She performs live in many formats.
The first studio album, ?Hindsight It's a Wonderful Thing? came next ?tune into this it's sexy stuff? gay times, then a succession of other albums. To date, she has released 7 studio albums, 2 live and one compilation and there have been 10 singles - the most recent released in 2022 Leaving https:// youtu.be/6SfSd7oXSXI The next album will be her 11th. ?Her voice sits somewhere between Alison Moyet and Annie Lennox, though at her best she can eclipse, both especially when she goes for that big emotional epic panorama?.
From 2016/17 Horse co-created the play Careful with writer Lynn Ferguson. These were stories from her life in which she plays herself. It garnered mostly 5-star reviews and won an Arts award Voice winner for pick of the fringe at the Edinburgh festival. An inspirational story of
