Genre : Music - Folk/blues/world

Description

Yorkshire folk singer Jack Rutter has established himself as one of the standout voices of the folk, roots and acoustic music scene in recent years. A hugely engaging stage presence, his soaring vocal, powerhouse guitar and bouzouki playing and masterful arrangements of traditional songs and contemporary covers have enthralled audiences from the largest festival main stages to the most intimate folk clubs.
Following on from his critically acclaimed second album Gold of Scar & Shale, 2022 will see the release of a brand new EP, with 2023 bringing the successor to Gold of Scar & Shale in the form of a new album of traditional songs.

?Among Britain?s finest traditional singers.? Folk Radio UK

?An outstanding performer.? - The Independent

?You always want an exciting new discovery at a festival, and for many it was Jack Rutter who provided just that. What prowess he showed in music, he matched with his skills as a raconteur; his love and respect for the songs in turn made the audience joyful.? Louder Than War Magazine reviewing Underneath the Stars Festival.

Opening for Jack we are delighted that Chris Brain is to be at Wadsworth. Chris Brain renders songs embedded in folk tradition with a contemporary resonance. Hailing from Yorkshire, Brain finds inspiration from pastoral landscape and soaring figures from the natural world. He released his debut, critically acclaimed and widely distributed album, Bound to Rise, in 2022. Now working on a second album to be released at the start of October 2023 and to be toured nationally. Brain is deeply rooted in the UK folk scene, running two folk clubs in Leeds where he resides, which attract a
wide range of audiences and musicians alike.

Folk London, Joe Whittaker - ?It is the atmospherics of a Nick Drake album that first come to
mind when listening to Chris?s songs, and his intricate guitar playing has overtones of John
Martyn and even Joni Mitchell with the songs flowing well without being intrusive so very easy to
listen to?

Cask Ale, Pie and Peas including veggie/vegan options and a warm welcome
