Staffell & Stewart Band return to The Crawdaddy Club Richmond ?Friday 26th May
Our friends Tim and Paul are back again with a full band for more of their special kind of blues that will make you get up and strut your stuff! (Yes, we have a dancefloor)
Paul was the leader of ?The Others? who followed the Stones and the Yardbirds as the third House Band at The Crawdaddy Richmond.
The Others, previously The Aristocats, was created by five 17-year-olds at Hampton School after being blown away by the Stones at the Crawdaddy Club in early 1963.
During ?63 the band developed its unique R&B style coupled with 3-part harmonies, the name ?The Others? reflecting its distinction from the rest of the bands around ??The Who and Them; so they followed this naming style in 1964. Gigs around the country, including Eel Pie Island, The Crawdaddy and The Marquee, developed the band?s style and fan base.
Tim was lead guitarist and vocalist with the band ?Smile? which included guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor. Tim left the band and so introduced his good friend Freddie Mercury who replaced him. Upon Staffell's departure, Smile morphed into Queen. Tim continued playing regularly whist pursuing a totally different career and is now known all over the world but especially popular in Japan!
In late 2019/early 2020, Paul Stewart together with Tim Staffell recorded an album 'How High' under the band name of Staffell & Stewart; containing a mixture of original material and
reimagined Rhythm & Blues Classics. Both play regularly at our Club.
