This is a home village gig for Steve Tilston! Ste is joined by his bass playing stalwart Hugh Bradley and Pete Dilley who will open the evening and join Steve and Hugh for some of the songs.
Steve Tilston been described as ?a complete guitarist,? ?a singer songwriter of rare talent? and ?absurdly accomplished.? He?s toured with John Renbourn, Maggie Boyle, WAZ, Ballet Rambert and daughter Martha. The writer of the classics The Slipjigs and Reels, The Naked Highwayman and Here?s to Tom Paine; his songs have been covered by a who?s who of the folk world. The boxed-set retrospective Reaching Back is a fitting celebration of the life and music of one of our finest performers. After 50 years in the business he?s on as fine form as ever.
?One of the great voices of English music, one of the great composers of English music?
I have so much respect for Steve Tilston? - Bob Harris, BBC Radio 2
Steve Tilston, in case events have conspired to conceal the fact from you thus far, is that very rare combination of singer, songwriter and guitarist who actually excels in all departments. - Folk Roots
Pete Dilley is a singer/songwriter from Shotley Bridge, Consett, Co. Durham, who has made the Calder Valley his home. Pete plays Guitar, Dobro, Banjo and Bouzouki, he released an excellent double album 'Half Truths and Hearsay' a couple of years ago which displayed the variety and depth of his songwriting. Pete has played with Steve before and we look forward to a 'Steve Tilston Trio' performing some songs during the gig.
