Malphino presents a night of immersive live Tropical Musica at Jamboree, united in the sounds of Cumbia, and inspired by Munich-based party The Alien Disco.
The night will begin with short sets from each band, then rolls into an immersive off-stage setup, each band performing one song each on rotation. They will then all merge together to create an organic musical jam. Expect the informal, and to dance to an unexpected cumbia extravaganza.
The bands!
Malphino is a multinational cumbia band that has flown the cumbia flag in London for the last 10 years. Their inspirations come from a mix of accordion-based Colombian cumbia, Mexican Rebajada sound systems, Peruvian Chicha, Martin Denny Exotica, and cosmic organ sci fi scores. They are not just a band but a mystical isle where everyone is welcome. They are the gateway to a tropical island where you dance away your troubles while the sun sets over the volcano of mount Lalango.
The London Gaita Social Club (LGSC) is an urban collective that performs Afro-Indigenous music from Colombia, one of the origins for cumbia rhythms. Drawing from the folkloric traditions of gaita flutes and drums, the group fuses vibrant rhythms and soulful melodies that celebrates this cultural heritage.
Corazon Cuestino are formed by Anglo Peruvian musicians that bring the Andean and Latin American rhythms of the traditional Peruvian brass band to London audiences. The only Peruvian brass band in Europe, their repertoire consists of Huaynos, Marineras, Cumbias and Tuntunas, bringing the feel of Peruvian Andean rhythms.
