Description

Leo Morland is an improvising guitarist and composer living, studying and working in Birmingham's vibrant jazz scene, where he is recognized amongst musicians as a strong, unique and surprising player and writer. Drawing from a hugely diverse range of inspirations, from Art Tatum to Adrianne Lenker, his music fascinates audiences through emotional resonance and rhythmic momentum.

For this gig, his playful longstanding trio with drummer Aidan Amann and bassist Josh Vadiveloo reunites, joining forces with tenor saxophonist David Bustos. The group will be exploring some favourite compositions by jazz greats together, along with some new tunes written by the band. Expect thrilling solos and deep ensemble interplay.

About the musicians:

David is a saxophonist, composer, and arranger based in Birmingham. He is currently working on writing music for small and large ensembles, side-manning, and band-leading and arranging.

Aidan Amann is a drummer living in his birthplace of Birmingham. While studying with UK jazz greats including Clark Tracey at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, Aidan performs regularly around the midlands and beyond. Since his early gigs with his father, pianist Tim Amann, Aidan has gone on to play with some of the best up and coming talent in the country, as well as with established figures such as Ray Butcher and Vic Evans. He draws influence from folk music and Scandinavian jazz to shape a unique sound.h

Josh Vadiveloo is a 22 year old bassist hailing from Bedfordshire. After studying Jazz at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, Josh is now living in Birmingham and collaborates with some of the most exciting musicians in the country. The last few years has seen him perform with the likes of Soweto Kinch, Rachael Cohen and Jean Toussaint; around the UK and Europe and in prestigious venues including Ronnie Scott's, Pizza Express and Unterfahrt Jazz Club.

Recently Josh has had the privilege of joining award-winning saxophonist Xhosa Cole on a 35 date UK tour, as well as recording on Mancunian pianist Tom Harris' debut album with a line up of stellar musicians.
