Description

Rebekah Reid is a vibrant and versatile violinist, composer and loop pedal artist, specialising in jazz/classical repertoire and improvisation. She?s known for her distinct style and unique sound worlds that evolve from a single solo violin line into expansive, cinematic orchestral strings.

Combining virtuosic violin performance with live looping and electronics, Rebekah effortlessly blends influences from jazz, contemporary classical music, hip hop, world music, folk and electronic dance music; crafting exhilarating sonic soundscapes that capture audiences' imaginations.

From enthralling rhythmically complex West African sound worlds, to ethereal ambient dreamscapes and shimmeringly immersive sound baths, Rebekah is able to transport audiences into a new world, where possibilities are limitless and joy is guaranteed.

Rebekah has taken her solo live loop pedal set across the UK, with performances at the Portico Library in Manchester supporting Matana Roberts and Kelly Jayne Jones, Manchester Art Gallery for Sofar Sounds, and the Royal Albert Hall ? the Elgar Room in 2019, supporting Roxanne Tattei. Alongside solo performing, Rebekah tours the UK and International stages extensively with orchestras, jazz ensembles and pop bands, including with Soul II Soul on their 2022 UK tour, Stormzy at the 2023 Brit Awards, the Chineke Orchestra on The BBC Proms and with Celeste at the Mercury Awards 2021. She has played on a number of high profile recordings, including for NAO, Emma-Jean Thackray, Daniel Casimir and Alicia Keys. Her solo compositions have had radio plays on Worldwide FM (Emma Warren) and BBC Radio 3 (Late Junction, Elizabeth Alker, Linton Stephens). Rebekah has also featured on BBC Radio 4?s ?Add to Playlist? with Cerys Matthews and Jeffrey Boayke, and was commissioned by BBC Radio 4 and BBC Sounds to compose a soundtrack for the radio series ?28(ish) Days Later' broadcast in March 2022.
