Nick Hart is an award-winning singer and multi-instrumentalist whose work with English folk song is rapidly gaining him a reputation as one of the finest performers of his generation. His considered approach to accompaniment is informed by a deep respect for the nuances of traditional song and his captivating live performances are a testament to the importance he places on story-telling. Nick is an unfussy traditional singer, but far from a dull one; humanity and sly humour crackle warmly through his work.
His arrangements of traditional and occasionally contemporary songs have a filmic style: evoking the landscape of the Cambridgeshire carol "May Song"; the outrage and resentment of the gallows confessional "Jack Hal"l; the heartfelt delicacy of the love song "Lemany" and the painful nostalgia of "The River Don't Run".
Nick has released three solo albums, "Nick Hart Sings Eight English Folk Songs" (2017), "Nick Hart Sings Nine English Folk Songs" (2019) and his predictably titled third album was released in 2022. One of the club organisers purchased all three when he first saw Nick in concert - his performance was that good!
