KETTERING ARTS CENTRE presents:

ROLLING IN THE AISLES COMEDY CLUB

TOP comedians and an MC perform cutting edge stand up at Kettering Arts Centre's monthly RITA Comedy Club!

DUNCAN OAKLEY has been a musician since the age of six, has performed on the UK comedy circuit since 1999, appeared at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, on BBC Radio 4 and at many summer festivals as well as starring in Beat24's feature film 'Frontman' and short film 'Read Between the Signs' With musical skills that would easily fit into many rock bands Duncan Oakley performs an infectious mix of musical comedy and stand up with one of his trusty guitars - Maurice (Fender Strat), No.7 (acoustic) or his Les Paul (the Lezza) by his side.

With an eye and ear for the silly, rude, playful and downright irritating occurrences of life Duncan musters up songs that not only make you laugh, they bury into the recesses of your mind and find you a humming tune with a smile on your face 3 days later, confused and wondering where it?s come from.

Welcome to the world of Duncan Oakley!

"Leaping between stupidity and pure brilliance" Yorkshire Evening Post

"Unlike some musical comics who rely on a guitar to get them through, Oakley's routine deftly mixes the tunes with the stand-up" City Life

ANDREA HUBERT started out on the comedy circuit in late 2009, and within 20 gigs gained second place in a national competition. She?s since performed alongside some of the UK?s best comedians at prestigious comedy clubs all over the UK, been commissioned as a writer for a BBC pilot and was shortlisted for the BAFTA Rocliffe New Writing Forum at the New York Television Festival 2012. She was dubbed One to Watch in 2012 by London is Funny, for whom she went on to write a comedy poetry blog in 2012.

WINNER OF THE BEST DEBUT SHOW AT WHAT'S ON LONDON COMEDY AWARDS 2016 / THE BAFTA ROCLIFFE NEW WRITING AWARD 2013 / THE BOOM-TISH NEW ACT AWARD 2011

In 2013, Andrea and her writing partner Ryan Cull won the prestigious BAFTA Rocliffe New Writing Forum competition, beating over 500 other entrants. The writing pair are currently working on a new sitcom as part of a development deal with Objective Productions (makers of Peep Show and Fresh Meat.) She is also producing a book of short plays, and continues to contribute regular interviews and features to The Guardian.

In 2015, Andrea took part in a spoof music video of Taylor Swift's Bad Blood, parodying the notion of tax on female toiletries. Click here to watch the full video. In 2016, Andrea took her debut show 'Week' to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. In 2022 Andrea featured in the Channel 4 online series Jokes Only A ? Can Tell which is out later this year.

???? "There?s something very therapeutic about the set: her brutal and exposed honesty is refreshing, for both the audience, and, it appears, for herself. Deeply cynical, sarcastic and wonderfully honest, Hubert?s hilarious account of her experience with depression is perfectly pitched and more than overdue." Broadway Baby

"Hubert takes the audience with her not only into the crevices of mental illness but soon has them finding humour in all manner of improprieties." EdFest

"She does a good line in comic bile, and the honesty on display is vivid? simultaneously funny, horrific, shocking and genuine. It's a fine balancing act from a performer with charm and skill." Fest

???? The Skinny

???? ?Hubert delivers a refreshingly sardonic debut show, providing a whole lot of laughs against the back-drop of an important journey towards managing mental health issues.? What's On London

"It?s clear to see why she has done so well in such a short space of time. Her honest and hilariously self deprecating tales touch on subjects everyone can relate to, and the audience appreciation is evident in the warm applause at the end of her set." Mumble Comedy

?A gifted storyteller, Hubert was the highlight of the show.? Fringe Guru

?Andrea Hubert?s eccentric and dark humour has the audience in hysterics. The charisma and confidence of a natural performer.? Broadway Baby

?A keen writing skill [and] archly cynical attitude. Her slick, fluid set is rich with inventive, sarcastic gags hung round an intriguing personality." Chortle

?Slightly out of whack with the rest of the world, the all-important persona is certainly distinctive.? Chortle

?A thoroughly engaging presence with a quirkily descriptive approach to her observations. You are drawn instinctively into her world.? Chortle

"Smart, engaging and charismatic, Hubert is a hit." London Is Funny

?Well-structured, well written and skilfully delivered? ? The Scotsman.

?Effective laughs from a position not often heard? Juggles the profound and the irreverent rapidly alternating between the two.? ? Chortle.

?Stand-up with a harsh, dark edge, a refreshing change from all the feel-good crap.? ? Melbourne Age.
