London Prog Gigs are proud to present a fantastic double-header of KYROS and IHLO.
Modern synth-prog outfit KYROS have cemented themselves as one of the hardest working and most innovative bands in the modern progressive scene. Creating fresh, new and exciting music the band?s sound draws from the eighties pop sensibilities of Depeche Mode and Duran Duran through to the intensity and technicality of modern progressive music such as Haken and Porcupine Tree.
The band are incredibly excited to announce their new bass player CHARLIE CAWOOD, a multi-instrumentalist and composer from London, best known for playing with Knifeworld, Mediaeval Baebes, Anathema, The Anchoress, and Lost Crowns. Respected for his versatile and multi-disciplinary body of work, Charlie plays over twenty instruments from around the world, and has amassed dozens of recording credits and hundreds of live performances across a career spanning more than 15 years.
?A dash of 80s art pop and a dose of prog rock to cure what ails you.? - Prog Magazine ?Sure, you might get out your brush, and slap a coat of bright neon paint on your patented progressive metal or rock album, or you could do what Kyros has done: Carefully unearth the still-beating heart of 80?s prog and infuse yourself with the absolute best the genre had to offer in those bleak years, where everyone proclaimed it to be dead.? - The Progspace
IHLO?s music is a journey of heavy, melodic and emotional passages; blending progressive metal, electronic and pop influences together to create a sound that is huge musically, emotionally crushing and full of hooks. After over two years working on their first release, ?Union? was released in May 2019 and received high acclaim from the progressive metal community with consistently great reviews and an electrifying buzz that still refuses to die down. The music takes influences from across the modern metal scene, focusing on tight grooves and explosive riffs intertwined with soaring melodies that dig deep into a pool of emotion. Combine this with a wide range of electronic tones and detailed sound design, wrapped up in a hard-hitting production package, ?Union? encapsulates a heavy explosion of catharsis.
?Without a doubt a future classic of the genre.? - The Progspace
?There is a spark of genius here? - The Prog Mind
Support is from GRACE HAYHURST, a solo progressive metal artist in the early stages of her career. As a multi-instrumentalist, she covers keys, guitars, bass, vocals, and even French horn in the studio environment to create her unique compositions, influenced by jazz, classical, prog rock, and prog metal bands all the way from the 60s up until today. Accompanied by a super group of backing musicians - Galen Stapley (Azure), Alex Miles (Azure), and Robin Johnson (Kyros), Grace will be performing her existing material, as well as exclusive previews of new songs from her upcoming debut album. Never heard before anywhere else?
THE FIDDLER'S ELBOW in Camden is a largely standing venue, but some seating is available on a first-come/first served basis. The event aims to be responsive to needs of attendees with disability issues; If you require a reserved seat, please let the organisers know.
PLEASE SUPPORT THE VENUE by buying drinks from the bar. If the bar takings are insufficient, they will have no option but to increase their hire charge, which will result in higher ticket prices, and may reduce the possibility for smaller prog bands to play. So please buy an extra drink - alcoholic or not!
