Thinking Thursdays: 1338 French Raid Walking Tour Event Title Pic

Description

Thinking Thursdays is a weekday initiative from Southampton City Council Cultural Services, exploring the rich history and heritage of the town. Each session is unique, but it could be a talk, tour or something entirely different!

In October 1338 Southampton was attacked in a vicious raid, which still leaves its mark on the city today. But when exactly did it happen? What do the sources and the archaeology tell us and is it true that a cannon was used in the raid?!

Join historian and guide Andy Skinner in exploring the setting, scene and history of the infamous French Raid of 1338 in this special walking tour around the anniversary of the raid itself. As always, this tour will be engaging, fun and will visit some of the medieval vaults hidden under the town.

Meet in St Michael?s Square 10 minutes before the tour begins.

Regrettably the tour isn't suitable for those with mobility issues.

Our prices are based on helping as many people to access our talks as possible. The more you choose to pay, the more people will be able to come and enjoy the same excellent programme of informative and entertaining talks. We thank you for any additional support you are able to offer us.

In the unlikely event of our having to cancel a session, we will offer a full refund. Unfortunately tickets are otherwise non-refundable. Please contact us if you wish to transfer your ticket to a friend if you cannot attend for any reason.
