Fergal Keane gives the SNELLING LECTURE 2023 , the 16th in a series of annual lectures organised by Oxted United Reformed Church in memory of Irene Snelling.
Irene was a much loved member of the church and her generous legacy helped to fund the transformation of the church building into a multi functional community space.
Fergal Keane is a writer and jornalist and one of the BBC's best known correspondents reporting from the world's trouble spots.
He has also written several books, including 'Letter to Daniel', 'Season of Blood' on the Rwandan genocide, which won the Orwell Prize, and his top ten bestseller 'Road of Bones' on the siege of Kohima in the second world war. His most recent publication 'The Madness: A Memoir of War, Fear and PTSD' was released last year.
Any profit made from the lecture will be donated to Combat Stress a registered charity, nominated by Fergal, that supports former members of the British armed forces who are suffering from a range of mental health conditions including post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). There will also be a door collection on behalf of Combat Stress.
