Description

Quodlibet Winds is a dynamic wind quintet that performs in various venues in the North West, including Marple Arts, Buxton Fringe Festival, Prestbury Sunday Series, Gorton Music Society and Heswall.

They have been nominated for and won best small chamber ensemble several times in the Buxton Fringe Festival. They regularly join forces with the Bright String Quartet as the Cheshire Chamber Collective to play larger scale mixed chamber pieces. The members of the quintet decided to form their own group after having played together in several local orchestras including Cheshire Sinfonia, Stockport Symphony
Orchestra, Lancashire Chamber Orchestra. Anna Shipton (flute) and Lindsay Kershaw (oboe) trained at the RNCM. Emma Tennant (clarinet) studied music at Birmingham University. Alex Kane (bassoon) trained at the Royal Military School of Music in London. Jen Ward (horn) studied music at Dartington College of Arts.

The programme planned for Sunday November 19th is takes the audience on a journey around the world from a raucous street party in London in ?Boulevard? by the famous film and television composer Jim Parker, to Hungary with the exciting and colourful quintet by Endre Szervansky. We go to America in the company of Antonin Dvorak with a taste of his American string quartet arranged for winds. We explore the Habanera with a French twist by Maurice Ravel and end up in Argentina with ?Ole Guapa? composed by the Dutch band leader Arie Malando.
