The Montrose Playhouse and Mo' Fidelity Records are delighted to welcome the incredible C Duncan to the Playhouse for a special performance.
C Duncan is a Mercury Prize nominated dream-pop musician from Scotland. He was born and raised in Glasgow by two classical musicians. After graduating in composition from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland he began work on his first album. Four albums in he has been shortlisted for the Mercury Prize and shortlisted three times for the SAY Award. His most recent album ?Alluvium? was released in August 2022 by Bella Union. As well as writing and recording albums, he has had classical pieces performed by the RSNO, BBCSSO and NYOS, and has written soundtracks for documentaries and films. He has also supported bands such as Elbow, Belle & Sebastian and The Blue Nile.
Support will come from renowned harpist and composer Gillian Fleetwood and songwriter Adam Ross.
Gillian Fleetwood is probably best known as a harp player but has long been passionate about songs and arrangement and in her time in Glasgow, Scotland, she has been fortunate to collaborate with a broad and inspiring range of musicians. This has meant that she has been able to pursue her love of traditional music, which was the style of music which fostered her desire to make a life in music, but also to enjoy the diversity and stylistic breadth that makes Glasgow a world renowned hub for music, art and the cross fertilisation of cultures. In her performing life so far she has been playing The Duplets, State Broadcasters, Henry and Fleetwood, De Rosa, Agnes Obel, Pictish Trail and others. Over the last few years she has been focusing on composition and arrangement and is excited to launch a new album "Together with Yourself at Sea Level" in autumn 2023.
Adam Ross is a songwriter based in north-east Scotland. He has led the cult indie band Randolph's Leap for over a decade, releasing music with King Creosote and Pictish Trail?s Fence Records and Lost Map as well as Olive Grove Records and Fika Recordings. He released a debut solo folk album 'Staring At Mountains' in 2022 with Jenny Sturgeon and Pedro 'Man of the Minch' Cameron accompanying him on the record. He is known for his intricate, storytelling lyrical style which often blends humour and poignancy and even inspired a touring theatre show based on his work. 2024 will see the release of a brand-new solo album.
