An Evening with Whitfield Crane (Ugly Kid Joe/Life Of Agony/Another Animal/Richards-Crane)
Whitfield Crane is an American singer and founding member of Ugly Kid Joe, a hard rock band formed in Isla Vista, California in 1989.
Thanks to the massive success of the band?s debut single, Everything About You, their 1991 debut EP As Ugly as They Wanna Be became the first short-form LP to be certified platinum, and it remains the highest selling debut EP by any band in the history of music.
Their album America?s Least Wanted also went double platinum and spawned a second Top Ten hit ? a cover of Harry Chapin?s Cat?s In The Cradle.
UKJ broke up in 1997, after which Whit lent his distinctive vocals to a number of other musical project, including New York hardcore metal legends Life Of Agony and hard rock supergroup Another Animal. Then in 2010 the Ugly Kids reformed.
They?ve since released two new records ? Uglier Than They Used To Be and Rad Wings Of Destiny ? and spent the last decade touring all over the world. And with more live shows and new music on the way, now seems like the perfect time to sit down with the illustrious Whitfield Crane to talk about the journey so far.
The show will be moderated by Matt Stocks, a DJ, writer, presenter and host of the iTunes chart-topping podcast, Life In The Stocks. Matt?s interviewed everyone from John Lydon and Gene Simmons to Chuck D and Perry Farrell, and written two books based on highlights from these interviews.
He?s also a long-time friend of Whit. And they haven?t done an in-depth interview together in several years, so expect this one to go deep. The evening will feature a live interview between Stocks and Crane followed by an audience Q&A and informal photo & signing session.
