Double bassist Rick Foot has been making too much of the wrong kind of sense for longer than he cares to remember.
His current solo act knits together voice, bass and looper around a collection of darkly funny songs about the insanities of modern life. These are often minimal and absurdist - his seven word, 30 second Message to the Future was a finalist in the 2018 International Songwriting Competition - and weave in elements of blues, jazz and folk, drawing on a 30+ year career as a musician in which he has performed and recorded with, for example, Dick Heckstall-Smith, Evan Parker, Nancy Kerr, Jon Boden & many others.

He will be performing songs from his forthcoming album, provisionally entitled Eight Billion Cooks. Its predecessor, Songs of Idiocy & Expedience, contained an anarchist tango, a tale of thwarted mischief in two dimensions, a dystopia near-future, a bovine dreamscape and a potato; some or all of which may be played on this gig... The new record will offer a similarly broad range of oddities.
