Over the last two years most of these musicians have explored the wonderful world of spontaneous composition, improvisation and experimental music together on a weekly basis. Each performance produces a unique event: exciting new musical possibilities and experiences. They believe in making things happen through creativity, collaboration and community.

They acknowledge their approach has grown out of the work of people such as the Art Ensemble of Chicago and the Sun Ra Akestra, pioneering American musicians who have drawn on jazz, classical, and experimental avant-garde composers.

Breakfast Concert ? This is likely to consist of two spontaneous compositions, each approx. 35 minutes in length with a short break between them.

Lunch Concert ? The content of this concert is based on pre-written material produced by members of OQ drawing on elements of work by Chopin, Stockhausen, Bowie, Waits, Cage, Richards, White & Day & possibly others. There will be a short interval.

Dinner Concert ? Christmas On Saturn: an inter-galactical seasonal celebration of Sun Ra. This concert is the Occasional Quintet plus Andy Williamson (saxes) with audience participation, both appropriate & inappropriate.
The music will draw on Sun Ra?s catalogue of Christmas music ? (Un)usual rules apply
