The one and only Rhoda Dakar was born into music.
Rhoda's father ran the first black owned nightclub in London, hosting the likes of Louis Armstrong, Django Reinhardt and Ray Ellington and in her teens she was one of the faces of the early London punk scene.
With the rise of the 2 Tone ska revival, she found fame as the lead singer of The Bodysnatchers.
Signed to Jerry Dammers of The Specials legendary 2 Tone Records, The Bodysnatchers toured and recorded with The Specials, The Selecter and Madness, scored hit singles and Top Of The Pops appearances and were featured playing live in the classic, recently re-released to cinema concert film Dance Craze,
Rhoda still tours with The Specials and Selecter to this day, recently appeared on the latest Dub Pistols album, DJs live and on Acid Jazz Records?s Totally Wired Radio and her latest solo album drops May 26th on Sunday Best Records.
We can?t wait to host Rhoda Dakar?s DJ set with support from DJ Glyn Wilcox aka Ska Au Go at Things Happen Here for an ultra-danceable, unforgettable night of ska and reggae.
