A Friday night of lyrical folk at Jamboree with the Luke Fraser band and Alan Caruso, drawing lines to Tom Waits, Cole Porter Leonard Cohen and Josephine Foster
Headliner Luke Fraser, tonight playing with his full band, floats through time and genre, anchored by honest, intimate and at times scathing lyricism. Drawing from everything from Tom Waits? style of circus cabaret to Cole Porter-esque crooners to 70s folk rock, he and his five piece band (complete with saxophone and baritone guitar) create a sound-world tied to the past, but with eyes on the present.
In support, Alan Caruso is a country folk singer-songwriter taking his influence from the likes of David Berman, Leonard Cohen, Daniel Johnston, Bruce Springsteen, Judee Sill, Carole King, Josephine Foster, Faye Webster and Ted Hawkins, crafting his own delicate and timeless folk sound.
Jamboree is a grass-roots world music venue and bar hosting Folk, Blues, Americana, Celtic, Mediterranean, Eastern, European, GypsyPunk and Old Time Jazz!
