Quickly gaining recognition as an up and coming talent on the UK folk scene, Louise has been described as having "a pure and soaring voice" (David Jones, Folk North West) that is "unrivaled on the current folk scene" (John Owen, Hungry Horse Folk Club).
2023 kicked off with an invitation to the Introducing Stage at the Great British Folk Festival, where Louise was delighted to win the audience vote following her performance. As part of her win, Louise joined the line up at the Gate to Southwell Festival where her performance on the folk stage was described as "a breath of fresh air, simply captivating" (Folk and Honey). After teaming up with Chris Rogan, their debut album as a duo, "Things That Matter", was released in February. In the Spring, Louise was delighted to join McCusker, McGoldrick and Doyle as part of their UK tour in both Sale and York for performances of Doyle's "Exiles Return."
The Missed Trees are an alt-folk duo from Birmingham consisting of singer-songwriter/guitarist Joe Peacock and singer/fiddle player Louisa Davies-Foley.
Their second EP, Resist, was released in September. It's a collection of songs tackling tough topics of scapegoating refugees, racism and dictatorships, but all done with a great sense of melody and songwriting craft.
Joe Peacock has become known as a genre-hopping storyteller in his career as a solo artist, but met Louisa Davies-Foley through singing together in a choir and they started playing as a duo in 2022. This collaboration has taken his songs to another level with their voices blending superbly and Louisa?s background in traditional music combining perfectly with Joe?s more alternative roots.
Louisa has played in a number of West Midlands based folk bands including Elfynn, The Dirty Old Folkers and Amaranth. They use carefully crafted harmonies and fiddle parts to augment and add new possibilities to Joe?s creations.
