Description

Delighted to be bringing Real Farmer to Oxford for the first time! They are an idiosyncratic (post)punk four-piece from Groningen and The Hague. The name is a nod to their singer?s youth as he grew up in the Groninger countryside. What started out as a group of friends writing punk songs together one afternoon grew into a close-knit band.

As active members of the vibrant local music scene with their wonderfully infectious punk noise, Real Farmer?s debut album Compare What?s Therefinds its members concocting fast-paced, driving songs with wiry riffs, propelling drums, and winding melodies. Angular punk songs alternate with melancholic post-punk, sometimes hard and energetic, sometimes soft and ominous. The lyrics mention themes of loneliness, heartache and finding your place in the world, which are delivered with complete dedication.

Each track stands on its own, both expressing a nostalgia for a different time and reflecting the time and place the songs were written in, showing the multifaceted personalities that make up Real Farmer. They dream big and give everything on the stage without setting expectations for the future.

Real Farmer is: Peter van der Ploeg (vocals, guitar), Marrit Meinema (vocals, bass guitar), Leon Harms (drums) and Jeroen Klootsema (vocals)
