The Montrose Playhouse and Mo? Fidelity Records are delighted to welcome Roddy Woomble to the Playhouse for a special gig which will combine solo material, Idlewild songs and music from his new project, Almost Nothing.
Roddy Woomble is a Scottish songwriter best known as the lead vocalist of legendary indie rock band Idlewild. He has also carved out a rich and varied career as a solo performer, releasing five albums under his own name as well as a collaborative folk album, Before The Ruin, with Kris Drever and John McCusker. Recent solo works have seen him work with Andrew Wasylyk to explore new jazz and electronic influences.
Roddy's 2024 tour dates will also showcase his new album under the name Almost Nothing, a project described as "an exercise in artistic freedom, from a songwriter with almost thirty years of musical expression behind him. A bold new chapter, the songs shift through electronica to moments of shimmering art-pop".
Throughout his work, Woomble's soaring vocals and rich, poetic lyrics remain his distinctive trademark. The gig will consist of two sets, one showcasing the new Almost Nothing record and another made up of solo and Idlewild material.
Tickets are £15 in advance or £20 on the door. We recommend buying in advance.
