We are pleased to welcome British Rhythm and Blues sensation EMMA WILSON to Durham to play an intimate, one-off Claypath Deli gig. Emma?s live performances are renowned as being vibrant affairs, her songs delivered with true passion, backed by quality musicians.

Emma released her debut album ?Wish Her Well? in 2022 and tracks from the album have since notched up thousands of worldwide plays. The record arcs over Blues, Soul, Rock and Gospel and along with Emma?s growing reputation as a live performer culminated in her being named Emerging Artist of The Year at the UK Blues Awards in 2022. Emma?s diverse vocal style, which ranges from heart-wrenching soul to raw blues, is inspired by singers such as Ann Peebles, Aretha Franklin and Mavis Staples.

In January 2023, Emma travelled to Memphis to meet Johnny Phillips, owner of the legendary Sam Phillips recording studios. Johnny invited Emma to record in his studio and she returned to the USA in June 2023 to work with Grammy nominated producer Scott Bomar and members of the Hi Rhythm Section (Al Green, Booker T & The MG?s) whose distinctive, warm, swirling soul sound is a major ingredient of Emma?s second album ?Memphis Calling?. In December 2023 Emma appeared on the Cerys Matthews BBC Radio 2 Blues Show to chat about her experiences in Memphis, a show on which Cerys (clearly a fan!) played 4 tracks from the album.
