Description

David Burnell writes present-day fictional crime stories whose locations are now scattered across Cornwall. A mark of each story is a backstory based on a real event or character found in the same location. This talk will focus on two stories set in and around Bude. ?Twisted Limelight? draws on skulduggery at GCHQ?s Cleave Camp, and on cables which carry the internet to Bude?s shores. ?Beyond Reach? draws on various reaches of the canal and also the railway line from Okehampton to Bude, which ran across several almost-forgotten viaducts. The story starts with the wartime airfield at Cleave and ends with a resolution of a long-forgotten murder.
