20 years ago, when I was thinking about opening my bookshop, I realised that fiction shelves stocked with what I liked to read would be very limited in deed! And so I asked lots of my friends which authors they liked and what were their favourite genres. And I'm grateful that I did.
Since then I have learned to read far more widely, thankfully! I would've missed out on some really great reads, otherwise. As a result of this, I am always intrigued by how writers decide which stories to tell and how to tell them.

Local authors, Amy Beashel and Jenny Blackhurst, whose books are very different in approach, will be talking about the stories they felt compelled to tell and why they chose to use the genres they did for that telling.
