Whether it's your hometown or you're a first-time visitor, Alton is perfect poem-fuel - from the people you meet to the shops on the High Street, from King's Pond to the Curtis Museum, from grizzly murders to the genteel novels of Jane Austen. In this workshop, we'll use the everyday, the historic, and the geographic to write poems exploring our own personal maps of Alton - or what Alton might be to you.
About the tutor: Ellora Sutton is a Hampshire-based poet. Her work has been published in The Poetry Review, Oxford Poetry, Propel and bath magg, amongst others. Her pamphlet, Antonyms for Burial (Fourteen Poems), was the Poetry Book Society Spring 2023 Pamphlet Choice, and her latest pamphlet, Artisanal Slush, was recently published by Verve Poetry Press. She is the poetry reviewer for Mslexia.
