Glasgow's premier Britpop and Indie dance party! Brought to you by Suzy Lee Kidd (Common People) and Paul Molloy (Tailor Made/Disco 2000).
We are delighted to be joined this month by guest DJ Baz Foster!
Baz first started DJing in the 80s at friend?s weddings, 21sts, engagement parties and the Youth Club, in and around his hometown of Navan, Co. Meath, then started his own imaginatively titled ALTERNATIVE DISCO MUSIC NITE at legendary local music venue Murray?s, it was around the time Madchester took off, destiny and circumstance soon intervened and he ended up in Freiburg in the Black Forest, where his pal Gubzee introduced him to something called Northern Soul, he says ?introduced? it was more like ?indoctrination? anyway bumbled his way quietly down that road, getting records but not playing out, until his pal Tricia brought him to a nite in Glasgow called Mixed Up Vinyl Club towards the end of the last decade, where he had an epiphany ?These are my records?. So one of the promoters (LJ) asked him to play (he says ?asked him to play? it was more like him following her around her club saying ?You should get me to play here!? until she relented for the sake of peace, and gave Baz a slot). The rest, as they say, is Geography: he got my first slot, and when another promoter heard him mixing Northern in with ?Alternative? Baz started getting gigs again. 80s and 90s Alternative music, mod, punk, Madchester, even some stuff from the Noughties! Baz throws it all into the blender and see what comes out. He says ?mixing? but really he mean playing one record, then playing the other. The cross fader stays fixed in the middle. Expect well known tracks and musica obscura from all the decades, held together by the single thread that I bloody love em AND they?ll get you Movin? On Up!
