Peggy Seeger In Conversation With Sam Richards Event Title Pic

Description

Wed 10 April: I'm sorry to have to let you know that Peggy Seeger is unable to be with us on 25 April as advertised. More about why below. However, we have arranged a new date, Saturday 12 October. Ticket holders should have received an email about this.

It seems that Peggy damaged her back in an accident in February, and her recovery has been extremely slow and painful. She is still unable to sit down for more than 10 mins at a time, and walking is also difficult. Her specialist has advised that she?ll be unable to travel for at least another month, possibly longer. She posted the text below this morning.

I hope you'll be able to join us then, if not before. There's plenty coming up at the Arts Centre including the Tinners Moon Festival which this was to be part of, from 18 April ? 6 May. If you want to contact me about this, or anything else, I'm at the other end of boxoffice@ashburtonarts.org.uk.

Best wishes
Andy Williamson
Arts Director, Ashburton Arts Centre

Dear friends: a quick update. I've sadly had to postpone all of my April engagements till October. Since my hip/back injury of February 4th, I have been seriously physically challenged, as the terminology goes these days. I would be able to BE with you on the dates we arranged but I cannot GET there. I cannot sit for more than 15-20 minutes so the car journeys would be intolerable. Anyone who has bought tickets for April events will be notified of the new dates.
Just knowing that you are there cheering me on is a vital part of my rehab. Take care of your own precious selves. The picture is of my favourite sculpture - she lies on a cushion in my sitting room, reminding me that things could be worse (or better - depending on your point of view).
See you soon. Peggy

An intimate conversation with a unique artist who has carved a special place in the folk pantheon of both the UK and the USA.

Now in her late 80s, Peggy?s light burns as brightly as ever. A multi-instrumentalist (piano, guitar, 5-string banjo, autoharp, English concertina and Appalachian dulcimer), she is lauded for her feminist and political songs and her co-creation of The Radio Ballads. She has made 24 solo recordings and participated in over a hundred more.

This event is part of Tinners Moon Festival 2024. For more about this see
