The João Menezes Band bring heartwarming Bossa Nova and energy-filled samba rhythms to dance the night away, with the wonderful Senegalese folk and rap rhythms and beats of Ashs the Best in support.
João Menezes is a Portuguese guitarist and singer that specialises in Brazilian music. He explores different styles, including but not limited to, Bossa Nova, Samba, Samba-Rock and Baião, with arrangements from Jorge Ben, Seu Jorge, João Bosco, Djavan, Tom Jobim and many others. He will be joined tonight by Giuliano Pereira on sax, Harry Pearce on bass and Jansen Santana on percussion.
Support comes from the wonderful Ashs the Best, the new star of the Dakar sky and one of the rays of its sun. Her tender and sensual voice captivates and hovers over delicate arrangements, chiseled melodies and undulating grooves brilliantly combining the folk and rap traditions that Senegal has appropriated so well for decades.
