Jaime Bermúdez Escamilla adopted his pen name from the late poet María del
Adarve, who introduced his grandfather to poetry. A composer, producer and
sound designer, over the past decade Jaime has produced work for film, theater and
video games.
In March 2023, Piano and Coffee Records published his first solo EP, ?Neu?,
capturing the pieces Jaime wrote for Bernat Muñoz?s theatre play about autism.
The follow-up, ?Las Horas?, published in February 2024, premiered on Spanish
Radio 3, Radio Clasica and KEXP in Seattle. The EP pays homage to the women in
our childhoods who nourished us and held us on their laps. Las Horas features
paintings by Adolfo Lozano Sidro, Snorri Arinbjarnar and Jaime's aunt, Conchi
Escamilla.
In 2023, Jaime organised Piano Day in Barcelona jointly with LEITER Verlag, Nils
Frahm?s label. For the 2024 edition, Piano Day arrives at Sala Apolo with Marina
Herlop and Eydís Evensen, as part of ?Sordina?, a new series of intimate concerts
curated by Jaime and Sol de Sants Studios.
Jaime del Adarve is currently working on the live presentation of his first LP,
Montañas y Antenas, an album of instrumental pieces that move from classical
music to Spanish folk and post rock. The presentation intertwines the pieces with
poems that share insight on the intentions behind them.
Jaime is also an interactive music lecturer at the University of Barcelona and he
writes for the classical music magazine Press Music.
