Once a fig takes the listener with
them on a musical journey as they
intertwine Swedish and English folk
traditions with original music and
improvisation. Spinning, trance-like
melodies morph into electrifying
groove-based tunes as tales from the
forest meet daydreams in the big city.
The trio has opened up a new world
with their unique sound and strong
chemistry, passing on something truly
special to their audience.
Rebecka Edlund
is a London-based Swedish singer, lyricist
and composer with a soft spot for the ocean,
anecdotes and rusty orange. Her music is a
concoction of jazz and folk music traditions,
whale song, bird whistles and other strange,
beautiful sounds.
Rebecka?s debut album, ?Något
om en björk? (?Something about a
birch tree?), was nominated by
Lira Music Magazine as one of
the best folk jazz albums of the
year (2022).
She has performed at renowned
venues around Europe, including
Ronnie Scott?s, King?s Place and
Green Note, with esteemed
musicians such as Rob Luft,
Elliot Galvin, Laura Jurd and
Corrie Dick.
Phoebe Harty
is a cellist from Lancashire and has grown
up playing the folk and traditional music
of her home and lots of other beautiful
places and countries. She has a deep love
for the stories and the people she's met
through music, having also studied and
worked across genres including classical,
pop and more, weaving the voice of the
cello into countless worlds of colour,
beauty and fun.
Cori Smith
is a viola player and composer from the
North of England. Her compositions
communicate and connect with
audiences, drawing them into a world of
entrancing and thought-provoking
sounds. Sharing music and stories is a
huge part of her life; inspiration comes
from many different places, people and
plants she meets along the way. From
classical to English and Swedish folk
music, Cori weaves together her different
musical backgrounds, and is perpetually
inspired to find and create new colours
and worlds with Phoebe and Rebecka.
