Ian Douglas?s canal stories were so well received last time he came to the club, we had to have him back again!
Ian?s telling flows in and out of the stories, the tales woven together with canal history and anecdotes of his life on a canal barge.
In Ian?s stories we meet with ghosts and devils, cruelty and kindness, heroism and drama. These are the tales of the real people who lived and worked on Britain?s canals.
Ian says: ?What I love about storytelling is its simplicity ? stories meet us half way. The stories I like to tell are fun, inviting and light-hearted, even the serious ones! I believe that storytelling has a unique ability to connect people, not only to each other but to the past, the future and the world around us.?
Ian has been a storyteller for nearly 30 years. He works all over the British Isles at festivals and events and in schools, colleges and universities. Originally, he was a street theatre performer, fire breather and stilt walker.
