The Country Soul Sessions invite you to an evening of Rock N' Roll, Pop and of course Country Soul ?? ? ? ? ?
Keiron Phelan and Peace Signs
We are delighted that Gard Du Nord artists Keiron Phelan and Peace Signs will be making their full CSS debut. Keiron Phelan and Peace Signs present an elegant baroque pop, cross hatched with country, folk and early '70s glam pop. Drawing upon influences as diverse as Bolan and Bacharach think of a more muscular Neil Hannon or a less louche Kevin Ayers fronting Mk1 Cockney Rebel and you?ll be close to the source. In 2022 Mr Phelan and Peace Signs released their ?Bubblegum Boogie? (Gard Du Nord) long player to fine reviews and acclaim. For this Country Soul performance Keiron Phelan and Peace Signs will feature Keiron Phelan Lead vocal/guitar, Jenny Brand clarinet/piano/backing vocals, Jack Hayter pedal steel, Robert Rotifer bass guitar and Ian Button on drums. Don?t miss them.

The Magic City Trio
We are delighted that London based outfit The Magic City Trio will be returning to the Country Soul for our August session. The band take their inspiration from pre-war country music, through to modern hillbilly noir and throughout their essential long players 'Amerikana Arkana? & ?Amerikana Arkana 2? (Kailua Recordings) flashes of Lee Hazelwood type orchestration can also be found in their fabulous music. Their songs occupy a world of murder ballads, outlaw tales and stories of loss and dustbowl depression. For this performance Frank (Guitar/vocals), Annie (guitar/vocals), Matt (drums) will be joined by guitar supremo Jeff Mead, Helen Kinsey on bass and the class twin trumpet section of Mr Dave Howell and Mr Mike Cook.

Drew Morrison and the Darkwood
The house band are looking forward to treading the CSS boards once again after what seems like an age. The band's central vision of a music touched by influences ranging from Alt Country, Pop & Rock N' Roll all tinged with 'golden chording' has remained focussed and realised itself into a unique sound. Expect to hear flashes of late 1960s Velvets, Jimmy Webb-esque wordplay and electrical guitar playing that has one foot in the 1950s and the other very much in the now. The Darkwood features Nick Steyn on drums, Ian Gant on guitar, George London bass & singing and Drew Morrison singing and guitar.
