Like a nouveau Francais mash up of the New York Dolls, Heartbreakers and The Kids! Formed in 2016, signed to Slovenly Records these boys are something else!
After witnessing them first hand at Funtastic Dracula Carnival way back in 2017 we knew this band were gonna go places, so we brought them to Brighton the following year for their first visit, co-pro'd with Weirdsville. It was wild!!
They've since returned just the once in 2019 and in between have been busy touring the Americas and Europe. That's 5 years too long! Their latest 2023 release, Mauvaise Foi, has been put out by the excellent Slovenly Records and here's what SR has to say about it...
"As smokin? as they are, previous releases from LES LULLIES were rushed through with impossible deadlines and little time to consider the ends. ?Mauvaise Foi? ? their new LP with a resolutely French title (and their first record almost fully sung in the tongue) ? takes a more laid back approach to manifest the desired energy, finding the boys swimming in a sea of change from their usual methodology. The result is streamlined rock?n?roll with a new purpose: a stark contrast from yesterday?s news, while remaining truly Lullies. ?Mauvaise Foi? sounds more personal and fleshy, dabbling in influences from Phil Spector to the Real Kids, classic punk from the Normandy scene (Fixed Up, Dogs, Sub Kids), and brimming with subtle, headphone-worthy layers and details.
?Mauvaise Foi? (?Bad Faith?) as a title sums up this full-length with accuracy. Sometimes tackling somber subjects with tongue planted firmly in cheek has no qualms breaking free to resonate with hilarity and their trademark cockiness like a brakeless derailing bullet train. Contained herein are stories about real-life characters sung by slightly mendacious rock?n?roll adventurers.

??LFSS for came to our attention when they crashed a Los Dedos surf gig we were promoting at The Albert last year and although we tried to book them there and then it didn't quite work out. However, the connection was made, we stayed in touch and vowed to make it happen this year, and here they are!!!
?? Los Fuckin Surfer Smokers are a power trio from Bogotá, Colombia, that fuses Surf, Rockabilly, Swing and Rock n´Roll while exploring with originary rhythms such as Cumbia, Psychedelic Chicha, Brass ensembles among others.
Well known by their live performances, high profile musicians from Colombia have participated over the bands different line-ups adding up rich and varied musical flavors, that gives Los Fuckin Surfer Smokers their own musical essence.
Wowzers, what a treat!!! We can't wait to host our first band from Colombia!!! Who's ready for some SURF/KUMBIAAAAAA!?
