Description

Hullbridge Rat Pack

We were formed in 2008 quite by chance. We were all members of the Hullbridge Sports Club, and I, Barry Wilson, was approached by Brian Sangwin the Chairman to run a karaoke night to raise money for the club. Having not done anything like this before, I hired some equipment and agreed to run the event.

To start the evening off, I picked a Frank Sinatra song as he is one of my favourite artists, and at the end of the song, Brian said, that was pretty good, ?you should start a Rat Pack group!? I said ?yes, but there were 3 of them!? He said ? by the end of the evening I will have found you another 2 people!? True to his word, Mark Greenfield and Terry Scourfield were highlighted as the new members of what was to become ?THE HULLBRIDGE RAT PACK.?

We also needed someone to organise and play the music tracks, keep us 3 in check, and generally help run things. Enter Kylie Halls, who has been with us from the start, and a truly reliable, valued member of the group!

Brian suggested putting on a Rat Pack evening, to help the club, aswell as raising money for a chosen charity. So our first official gig was on a snow covered night in December 2008, and over 100 people turned up. We raised around £1,100 for the Breast Cancer UK Charity.

The night was a great success, and we were asked when the next one was? Since then until now, we have raised funds in the region of £50k for numerous charities including:

Breast Cancer UK
Cancer Research UK
Teenage Cancer Trust
MacMillan Cancer Support
Target Ovarian Cancer
Essex & Herts Air Ambulance
Farleigh Hospice

We look forward to supporting PSPA (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy), a particular charity close to us all, as a friend of ours is suffering from the disease.

Please come and join us on Saturday 8th February at 8pm for a night full of great songs from Frank, Dean & Sammy, and a host of other artists from that era. We would love to see as many people there as possible to raise money for this very worthwhile cause. ??????
These guys will be singing live to quality backing tracks.
The nights proceeds will go to PSPA ( Progressive SupraNuclear Palsy ) a Parkinson's related disease which has no cure at present and no effective medication, we hope research will one day find a cure.
