VOYA are a Cardiff duo influenced by the meticulous song writing, opulent production and emotive vocals of early 80s British synthesiser-based pop music. The band have been awarded the Triskell Award at this year?s prestigious Welsh Music Awards recognising them as one of the best new acts of 2024. This gig will include the world premiere of the video for their debut single "2 Shy 4 Love" Linford Hydes trained at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama; his previous work was leading the art-rock band ?Palomino Party?. Eddie Al-Shakarchi is an award-winning producer and multi-instrumentalist that shaped the sound of Boy Azooga?s acclaimed ?1, 2 Kung Fu!? album, which catapulted the band to international success and sold-out, headline tours. His musicality as an artist and experience as a producer allows him to create the perfect soundscapes for Hyde?s vocals.
Freddie Lewis, a rising trans artist from Bristol, has spent the past two years making a name for himself within the UK queer scene. His music uses thought-provoking lyricism, infectious hooks, and genuine emotion, drawing from jazz and electronic influences. Since his debut single 'Growing Pains' in 2021, Freddie has received widespread support from the LGBTQ+ community in the UK, as well as being featured on BBC Radio 1 and Radio 6 Music, Spotify?s ?New Music Friday?, ?Fresh Finds? and ?Our Generation? playlists and earning a spot as a cover artist on Spotify's 'Transcend' playlist for four months. With many performances across the country, including renowned festivals like The Great Escape and Glastonbury.
Description
Originally a fully operational cinema, The Globe is now the much loved hub of live music in Cardiff. In a City which has been shaken by a succession of venues closing we’re pleased to have now brought stability to one and with it a calendar to rival any 350 capacity venue in the UK. Split across both standing floor and balcony and with a room that is wider than it is deep the venue is a firm favourite on the UK touring circuit.
The programming is an eclectic who’s who of live music from the past 50 years with sellouts from Royal Blood, Skindred, Catfish & The Bottlemen, Public Service Broadcasting, The Misfits, Martha Reeves & The Vandellas, Alabama 3, The Jim Jones Revue, Alexander O’Neal, The Temperance Movement, Jess Glynne, The Fall, Immortal Technique and hundreds more.
