Description

David Mowat ? trumpet
Enrico Merlin ? guitar
Fabio Ferri ? flute/guitar
Federico Leonori ? bass
Mattia Collu ? drums

?Bristol-based BEJE explores the jazz idiom with international collaborators. This latest project is led by maestro guitarist Enrico Merlin from Trento Italy.

BEJE trio is Mattia Collu on drums Federico Leonori on bass and trumpeter David Mowat who also curates the flourishing ?world music? Cotham Club where this band was born. Linking Enrico to the trio is young avant-guard flautist-guitarist Fabio Ferri, once his acolyte.

David Mowat writes: ?I?ve long wanted to break free of the North American Jazz tradition which all of us in BEJE owe so much to. With Enrico we feel a kindred soul?lifting off the mixed waters of prog rock, Zappa, and electric Miles.?

Neil Rich and Vale Alba
A Musical Journey; Soundtracking the Phoenix Archive Project

The Italian Cultural Association Exeter invites you to join them on a musical journey, soundtracking the Phoenix Archive Project. Join eclectic musical duo Neil Rich (accordion and guitar) and Valentina Alba (voice and story telling) as they play sounds from the Mediterranean, inspired by footage from the Phoenix Archive. They will be accompanied on stage by the circus frolics of Dr Pandemonious Fish, Victorian Eccentric, and audiences will also have a chance to view rarely seen footage from the Phoenix Archive Project.

About the Phoenix Archive Project
This workshop is being run as part of the Phoenix Archive Project. The Phoenix Archive is a newly restored archive of 16mm film footage dating from the 1930s to the 1950s, tracking one family?s travels and activities through this turbulent period. From daily life and family outings to major historical events and world travel, the archive represents an exciting historical record.

The Phoenix Archive Project has been made possible thanks to support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund and The Radcliffe Trust.
