Description
We return to The Folklore Rooms - the best dressed stage in all of Brighton - for our festive special. And we?re super proud of putting together another eclectic lineup, with more acts to be announced!
THE COAL PORTERS are our headliners. Sid Griffin (Long Riders, noted Dylanologist, all-round legend) leads this glorious alt-bluegrass band. If you?ve never seen them before, you?re in for an absolute treat?
?Sid Griffin was playing Americana years before the term was invented and that pioneer spirit shines on with his current band, the Coal Porters.? ~ Billy Bragg
?Not your average fish and chips bluegrass, the Coal Porters have expanded their music with broad strokes and fearless execution.?
~ Chris Hillman (Byrds/Flying Burrito Bros/Desert Rose)
LAURIE BLACK
Laurie Black has been described as ?lovechild of Victoria Wood and Gary Numan?, morphing from the Fringe cabaret underworld into live music lineups with her live synth-sequencer setup, most notably Adam Ant?s 2022 ANTICS UK tour support. She also seems, you know, really nice.
THE HIGHCHURCHES are TMKW?s house band. They will be performing their own folky indie / indie folky songs, which are mainly about bad break ups and the end of the world, alongside at least one festive cover (not Black Snow by Ten Benson).
MARY FLANIGAN is a Northern Irish stand up and character comedian who is very silly. Expect nonsense.
Your MC for the night is PAGGY. Paggy Gacheva is a joyous, splendid force of nature. She is brilliant chaos, This Machine Kills Wasps is brilliant chaos: what could go wrong?
Lineup subject to change! And more special guests still to be announced?
