Bad Apple presents
Oh Hiroshima
Originating from the Swedish town of Kristinehamn, the current iteration of Oh Hiroshima consists of brothers Jakob Hemström on guitar/vocals and Oskar Nilsson on drums. Oh Hiroshima started as a humble DIY post-rock recording project over 15 years ago. Since then, the band has evolved into a highly regarded recording and live unit, with a solidified presence within post-rock circles and beyond. They are known for their deeply emotive sonic palette, seamlessly intertwining powerful crescendos with tender melodies and atmospheric vocals, all backed by impressive songwriting. Over the years, their music has shifted in sound and style, incorporating elements of shoegaze, indie-rock, post-punk, and more. A diversity that over time has made it hard to entirely define the band by genre.
The band made their debut in 2011 with the self-released full-length album ?Resistance Is Futile?. The album received minimal attention initially. However, within a year of the release of their sophomore album, ?In Silence We Yearn?, in 2015 they started to draw significant attention on YouTube. Their rising popularity led to a deal with Napalm Records, who re-released both of their albums on vinyl, after they had previously been re-released on CD by Fluttery Records. 'Oscillation', their first album on the new label, was released in 2019. It built on the foundations of the band's previous work but marked a significant leap forward in production. This was achieved by the band taking more time to work on each song and experimenting more in the studio to achieve the desired results. Receiving favourable reviews, the band followed up with ?Myriad? in 2022. Possibly their most ambitious work yet, this record saw Oh Hiroshima venture into new sonic territories, blending their atmospheric essence with an array of new influences, once again receiving favourable reviews. In early 2024, Oh Hiroshima announced they had signed on with Pelagic Records for the upcoming release of their 5th LP titled ?All Things Shining?. The band recently released the song ?Wild Iris? as a first single from ?All Things Shining? followed up by second single ?Secret Youth?. The whole album is set for release June 28.
The Survival Code are a London based rock duo known for their beefy, guitar laden songs, banging beats and huge live shows. The rock duo comprises of Gary McGuinness (guitar, vox) and Simon Hartop (drums, vox). The Survival Code have been around in many incarnations since 2012 but found their final lineup of as a duo and their sound In 2018 in the recording of the album HOPELESSNESS OF PEOPLE with the esteemed producer they still work with to this day: Matt Hyde (UK). Ever since then the band have grown from strength to strength gigging across the UK on two UK tours and releasing a new EP in 2019 - CROSSES TO CARRY, COFFINS TO FILL which saw the band having 20-40k streams a month on streaming platforms since.
