Description
A fascinating exploration into how traditional remedies and healing practices were lost, imported back from overseas, shaped alongside and occasionally in conflict with 'modern medicine'. Starting in the prehistoric times until the present day, looking at a household herbal owned by 3 generations of Cornish women from the 18th century onwards, as an example of how class played a role in how we view herbal medicine today.
Jenny is a medical herbalist living on the edge of Dartmoor National Park. Her path to plant medicine began as a patient, when herbal medicine turned her health around just as everything seemed most hopeless, and she decided she wanted to help others do the same. This led to training for a Medical Herbalist degree, graduating in 2023, and she now practices from a small shop and clinic in Okehampton, alongside utilising previous experience in Archaeology and Biosciences to research and write about herbal History.
